Job Summary

Reporting to the Executive Chef and Sous Chef, the Prep Cook assists by preparing ingredients, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and performing simpler cooking tasks according to the menu. The Prep Cook interacts respectfully with residents, family members, visitors, colleagues, and staff. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Essential Functions

• Prepare and cook food according to recipes, menus, and instructions.
• Monitor food temperatures and manage inventory to minimize waste.
• Ensure proper presentation of food items.
• Maintain kitchen sanitation and cleaning schedules.
• Assist with receiving stock and organizing storerooms, refrigerators, and freezers.
• Maintain reliable attendance, which is essential.

Essential Mental and Physical Functions

• Move within the workspace, bend, lift, reach, and extend arms as needed.
• Lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs regularly, 30-40 lbs frequently, and up to 75 lbs occasionally.
• Stand for extended periods.
• Climb steps regularly.
• Work in temperature extremes.
• Read and write in English.
• Communicate verbally clearly with coworkers and customers.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Food Safety certification or ability to obtain within six months.
