Job summary

CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen) is seeking a Controller with Technology Industry experience for our CAAS practice. You will help clients transform their business through a collaborative approach to mitigate risk, meet deadlines, and optimize workforce needs.

The role requires 7 years of Controller experience, a Bachelor's degree, and strong GAAP knowledge with internal controls. CPA preferred but not required. In-office role with local travel to client sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; CPA preferred but not required.

• Public accounting experience preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP (FASB/SFAS) and internal controls.
• Experience with technology industry clients is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop knowledge of GAAP and internal controls for tech clients.
• Lead budgeting, cash management, and accounting policies.
• Coordinate financial planning and reporting for parts of the organization.
• Prepare financial statements and regulatory reports as needed.
• Advise management on financial objectives and actions.
• Communicate with boards, bankers, and investors.

About the role:

CLA is looking to hire a Controller with Technology Industry experience, for our Client Accounting & Advisory Services ( CAAS ) practice. As a Controller, you will help our clients transform their business with a collaborative approach that allows them to seamlessly mitigate risk, overcome challenges, meet deadlines, and identify personnel to help them with their workforce needs.

Primary Responsibilities…

• Develop full knowledge of GAAP (FASB/SFAS) and deep understanding of financial and operational aspects of the technology industry.
• Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
• Coordinate and direct the financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investment activities for all or part of an organization.
• Prepare financial information.
• Prepare, or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies.
• Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations.
• Monitor ratio and key performance indicators (KPI).
• Monitors and evaluates the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing actions.
• Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
• Communicate on a regular basis with boards, bankers, investors, constituents, etc.; may include prepping for and/or hosting board presentations.

What you will need:

• _ Education: _ Bachelor’s degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree. CPA certification is preferred but not required.
• _ Experience: _ 7 years relevant work experience as a Controller or equivalent is required.
• Accounting back-office experience is required.
• Relevant experience in the Technology industry is highly preferred! Public accounting experience preferred but not required.
• Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Intacct)
• Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
• _ Travel: _ This position works primarily in-office and requires frequent local travel to/from local area client sites. It may require occasional non-local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings and/or other business-related purposes.
