Job summary

CLA is seeking a Controller with Technology Industry experience to join our CAAS practice. You will help transform client businesses through strong GAAP expertise, internal control development, and financial planning while coordinating with leadership and boards.

The role requires 7 years of relevant experience, a Bachelor's degree, and proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Intacct). In-office with local travel, CLA offers comprehensive health benefits and retirement plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required; CPA certification is preferred but not required.
  • 7 years of relevant work experience as a Controller or equivalent is required.
  • Relevant experience in the Technology industry is highly preferred.
  • Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Intacct).

Responsibilities

  • Develop full knowledge of GAAP (FASB/SFAS) and deep understanding of financial and operational aspects of the technology industry.
  • Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
  • Coordinate and direct the financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investment activities for all or part of an organization.
  • Prepare financial information.
  • Prepare, or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Monitor ratio and key performance indicators (KPI).
  • Monitors and evaluates the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing actions.
  • Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with boards, bankers, investors, constituents, etc.; may include prepping for and/or hosting board presentations.

About the role

CLA is looking to hire a Controller with Technology Industry experience, for our Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) practice. As a Controller, you will help our clients transform their business with a collaborative approach that allows them to seamlessly mitigate risk, overcome challenges, meet deadlines, and identify personnel to help them with their workforce needs.

Primary Responsibilities

What you will need
Education

Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree. CPA certification is preferred but not required.

Experience

7 years relevant work experience as a Controller or equivalent is required. Accounting back-office experience is required. Relevant experience in the Technology industry is highly preferred! Public accounting experience preferred but not required.

Aptitude

Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Intacct).

Proficiency

Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).

Travel

This position works primarily in-office and requires frequent local travel to/from local area client sites. It may require occasional non-local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings and/or other business-related purposes.
