Job summary

CLA is seeking a Controller for our Non-Profit Services (CAAS) practice in Southern New England, with opportunities in Quincy, Andover, Boston, Worcester, New Bedford, MA and Cranston, RI. You will serve as Controller for designated nonprofit clients, advising on accounting and finance best practices while managing multiple engagements.

The ideal candidate brings seven years of relevant accounting/financial experience, a Bachelor's degree, and nonprofit or public accounting background.

• Bachelor's degree required or combination of related experience/education.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Nonprofit experience highly preferred.
• CPA certification preferred but not required.
• Client and project management experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Controller for designated nonprofit clients.
• Advise clients on accounting and finance best practices.
• Manage multiple clients, workstreams, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and provide recommendations.
• Build opportunities and participate in industry events/trainings.
• Maintain knowledge of client policies, state/federal directives, and accounting standards.
• Advise management on short- and long-term financial objectives.

CAAS service helps our clients transform their Business with a collaborative approach that allows them to seamlessly mitigate risk, overcome challenges, meet deadlines, and identify personnel to help them with their workforce needs.

CLA is looking to hire a Controller for our Non-Profit Services (CAAS) practice in Southern New England. Opportunities are available in our Quincy, Andover, Boston, Worcester, New Bedford, MA locations as well as our Cranston, RI location.

As a Controller, you will:

• Act as the Controller for the designated clients you service.
• Take on the role of consultant and advisor to your clients on best practices for accounting and finance-related engagements.
• Provide project management expertise by managing multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster and build opportunities and attend industry-leading events and trainings.
• Maintain knowledge of the client's organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
• Advise management on short-term and long term-financial objectives, policies, and actions.

What you will need:

• Seven years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required.
• Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Experience in Nonprofit is highly preferred.
• CPA certification is preferred but not required.
• Prior project management and client management experience preferred but not required.

The compensation range for this position in Massachusetts is: $116,000.00-$187,000
