CLA is hiring an Assistant Controller for our Nonprofit Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) Practice in Massachusetts. The role supports our clients by leading accounting functions and advisory services within a collaborative team.

Opportunities are available in Quincy, Andover, Boston, Worcester, New Bedford, MA and Cranston, RI locations. Bachelor's degree required; nonprofit accounting experience and GAAP knowledge are highly valued.

Qualifications

• 6 years of accounting or financial experience required.
• Experience in nonprofit industry strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree required; combination of experience and education may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
• Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Intacct, Great Plains, Yardi, MRI, Timberline, Sage, Foundations, Xero and PeopleSoft.

Responsibilities

• Perform Assistant Controller functions for the client's accounting services team.
• Act as a consultant and advisor to clients on best practices for accounting and finance engagements.
• Provide project management by handling multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster and build opportunities for clients, communities, and people.
• Attend industry events and training to grow expertise.
• Maintain knowledge of client policies, federal/state directives, and current accounting standards.

About The Role

CLA is looking to hire an Assistant Controller for our Nonprofit Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) Practice in our CAAS service helps our clients transform their business with a collaborative approach that allows them to seamlessly mitigate risk, overcome challenges, meet deadlines, and identify personnel to help them with their workforce needs. Opportunities are available in our Quincy, Andover, Boston, Worcester, New Bedford, MA locations as well as our Cranston, RI location.

As An Assistant Controller, You Will

• Perform Assistant Controller functions as part of the client's accounting services team and manage these functions for your clients.
• Act as a consultant and advisor to your clients on best practices for accounting and finance-related engagements.
• Provide project management expertise by managing multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster and build opportunities for our clients, communities, and people.
• Become an industry professional and attend industry-leading events and training.
• Maintain knowledge of the client's organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.

What You Will Need

• 6 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience required.
• Experience in Nonprofit Industry is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP
• Proficiency in accounting software, e.g. QuickBooks, Intacct, Great Plains, Yardi, MRI, Timberline, Sage, Foundations, Xero, Peoplesoft

The compensation range for this position in Massachusetts is: $95,000.00 - $155,000.00
