CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA) is seeking an Assistant Controller for our Nonprofit Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) Practice in Massachusetts. You will lead client accounting functions, support management reporting, and collaborate with clients to improve financial operations across multiple nonprofit organizations.

The role requires 6 years of nonprofit accounting experience, a Bachelor's degree, and strong GAAP knowledge.

Qualifications

• Experience in nonprofit industry preferred.
• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
• Proficiency with widely used accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Perform Assistant Controller functions as part of the client accounting services team and manage these functions for your clients.
• Act as a consultant and advisor to clients on best practices for accounting and finance engagements.
• Provide project management by handling multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and provide recommendations.
• Foster opportunities for clients and communities while staying current with accounting standards.

About the role:

CLA is looking to hire an Assistant Controller for our Nonprofit Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) Practice in our CAAS service helps our clients transform their business with a collaborative approach that allows them to seamlessly mitigate risk, overcome challenges, meet deadlines, and identify personnel to help them with their workforce needs. Opportunities are available in our Quincy, Andover, Boston, Worcester, New Bedford, MA locations as well as our Cranston, RI location.

As an Assistant Controller, you will:

• Perform Assistant Controller functions as part of the client's accounting services team and manage these functions for your clients.
• Act as a consultant and advisor to your clients on best practices for accounting and finance-related engagements.
• Provide project management expertise by managing multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster and build opportunities for our clients, communities, and people.
• Become an industry professional and attend industry-leading events and training.
• Maintain knowledge of the client's organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.

What you will need:

• 6 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience required.
• Experience in Nonprofit Industry is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP
• Proficiency in accounting software, e.g. QuickBooks, Intacct, Great Plains, Yardi, MRI, Timberline, Sage, Foundations, Xero, Peoplesoft

The compensation range for this position in Massachusetts is: $95,000.00 - $155,000.00
