Job summary

CliftonLarsonAllen LLP (CLA) is seeking a senior accounting professional to lead internal control and financial planning initiatives. The role includes budgeting, cash management, and preparing financial information for regulatory reporting.

Ideal candidates will bring a Bachelor's degree with 6 years of accounting/finance experience and familiarity with ERP/GAAP standards. CPA is preferred but not required; travel is primarily local to client sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • 6 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required, logistics industry experience is highly preferred.
  • CPA certification is preferred but not required.
  • QuickBooks experience is highly preferred. Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
  • Coordinate and direct the financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investment activities for all or part of an organization.
  • Prepare financial information.
  • Prepare and/or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Monitor ratio and KPI.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing actions.
  • Advise management on short- and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
  • Communicate with boards, bankers, investors, constituents, etc.; may include prepping for and/or hosting board presentations.

Education/Experience

  • Experience: 6 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required (logistics industry experience is highly preferred). Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems.
  • QuickBooks experience is highly preferred. Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
Travel
  • This position requires working primarily in-office, including local travel to/from client sites (depending on location), as well as occasional non-local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings and/or other business-related purposes.
Skills/Knowledge
  • An understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (FASB/SFAS) or other comprehensive basis of accounting
