Job summary

This in-office role with minimal travel is based in Houston and supports a growing Client Accounting and Advisory Services team.

Experience: 8–10 years in accounting/finance; Bachelor's degree required; CPA preferred. Travel to client sites local.

Responsibilities

CLA is looking to hire a Chief Financial Officer with Professional Services industry experience for our growing Client Accounting and Advisory Services team. This is an in office position with minimal travel.

As a Chief Financial Officer, you will: Perform CFO functions as part of the client’s accounting services team. Be accountable for identifying and implementing best practices related to the services provided to add value to the client. Work with client to set financial policy and be an active participant in, and driver of, the overall strategy. Drive capital planning, risk management, ratio and KPI analysis, and board of director interactions. Lead financial administration, planning, and budgeting. Oversee longer‑term budget planning and cost management. Monitor progress of budgets and presents operational metrics. Ensure financial staff maintains financial record systems in accordance with appropriate principles and monitors the use of funds. Manage cash flow and forecasting, directing financial accounting. Coordinate audit activities. Ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple client engagements. Build strong client relationships and becomes a key member of client management team. Ability to develop key external business network, become a service and industry thought leader, and drive the growth of our Professional Services CAAS practice.

Think you’re a fit? This is what successful candidates for this role have: Experience: 8 years of relevant accounting and/or finanical experience is required; 10 years strongly preferred. Prior project management and client management experience preferred but not required. Education: Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree. CPA certification preferred but not required. Knowledge of QuickBooks and Sage Intacct highly preferred. Comfortable in fast paced environment and skilled in multitasking.

Travel: This position requires local travel to/from client sites and may require occasional non‑local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings and/or other business‑related purposes. Our approach to compensation emphasizes collaboration and career growth. We pay competitive wages and view compensation as an investment in our people. Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact position of pay within the range. The compensation range for this position in Illinois is: $131,000.00 – $232,000.00 The compensation range for this position in Massachusetts is: $154,000.00 – $249,000.00 The compensation range for this position in New York is: $171,000.00 – $258,000.00
