CliftonLarsonAllen LLP is seeking an Assurance Principal to join our Northeast offices. The role emphasizes client advisory, service advocacy, relationship development, and leadership across engagement teams.

You will manage relationships with key clients, lead engagements, review work papers, and mentor staff to deliver high-quality audits and financial planning support. CPA certification is required, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and career growth.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop relationships with clients in a book of business.
• Oversee all services for assigned clients, including engagement management and fee discussions.
• Review and approve work papers and engagement progress to ensure quality and timely delivery.
• Lead client communications, status updates, and management letters with staff and managers.
• Mentor staff and oversee engagement teams to ensure high-quality client service.

CLA is currently seeking an Assurance Principal to join one of our Northeast offices. The role contributes at the highest level in their industry and excels at client advisory, service advocacy, relationship development, and leadership.

How you’ll create opportunities in this role:

• Manage and develop relationships with great clients.
• Assume full responsibility for all services for clients in a book of business.
• Review and sign engagement letters, discuss the nature and terms of assignments with clients and staff, and approve fees.
• Review and approve work papers prepared by staff.
• Periodically review engagement progress to determine whether all phases of the engagement are being carried out properly.
• Review time budgets and deadlines, provide ongoing attention to client’s management, and attend final client meetings.
• Communicate with managers and staff regarding engagement status, client problems, findings, and recommendations.
• Assist clients in obtaining necessary funding to continue to positively impact their community.
• Assist clients with meeting their audit and financial planning objectives by using a range of tools.
• Be creative with staff development, mentoring, and overseeing client engagement teams.
• Lead the engagement progress by monitoring time budgets and deadlines for adherence.

What you will need:

• You have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• You have a minimum of 8+ years of public accounting experience with emphasis in financial statement preparation and audits.
• CPA license is required.

Our approach to compensation emphasizes collaboration and career growth. We pay competitive wages and view compensation as an investment in our people. Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact the position of pay within the range.

The compensation range for this position in Maryland is: $200,000-$350,000. The compensation range for this position in Virginia is: $200,000-$400,000.
