CLA is hiring an Assistant Controller for the Higher Education Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) Practice. Openings in Chicago, King of Prussia, Austin, Houston, Minneapolis, and other locations.

Qualifications

• 6 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience.
• Experience in the Higher Education industry preferred.
• Bachelor's degree required; combination of related experience may be accepted.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
• Proficiency with accounting software: QuickBooks, Intacct, Great Plains, Yardi, MRI, Timberline, Sage, Foundations, Xero, PeopleSoft.

Responsibilities

• Perform Assistant Controller functions for the client’s accounting services team.
• Act as a consultant and advisor on accounting and finance best practices.
• Provide project management across multiple clients, workstreams, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and offer recommendations.
• Foster opportunities for clients, communities, and people.
• Attend industry events and training to stay current.
• Maintain knowledge of client policies, federal/state directives, and accounting standards.

About The Role

CLA is looking to hire an Assistant Controller for our Higher Education Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) Practice. Our CAAS service helps our clients transform their business with a collaborative approach that allows them to seamlessly mitigate risk, overcome challenges, meet deadlines, and identify personnel to help them with their workforce needs. Opportunities are available in our Chicago, Il, King of Prussia, Pa, Austin and Houston, Tx and Minneapolis, Mn locations.

As An Assistant Controller, You Will

• Perform Assistant Controller functions as part of the client’s accounting services team and manage these functions for your clients.
• Act as a consultant and advisor to your clients on best practices for accounting and finance-related engagements.
• Provide project management expertise by managing multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster and build opportunities for our clients, communities, and people.
• Become an industry professional and attend industry-leading events and training.
• Maintain knowledge of the client’s organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.

What You Will Need

• 6 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience required.
• Experience in the Higher Education Industry is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP
• Proficiency in accounting software, e.g. QuickBooks, Intacct, Great Plains, Yardi, MRI, Timberline, Sage, Foundations, Xero, Peoplesoft

The compensation range for this position in Illinois is: $81,000.00 – $144,000.00

The compensation range for this position in Minnesota is: $77,000.00- $139,000.00
