Job summary

Jobot is seeking a California-based Employment Law Attorney to advise public and private educational institutions on discipline, wage and hour issues, and workplace investigations. This remote role offers a meaningful opportunity with a well-established firm and a competitive salary.

You will represent clients in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and litigation, draft employment-related agreements, and train administrators and staff on legal obligations.

Qualifications

• Active membership in the California State Bar.
• Minimum of 4 years of employment law experience, with at least 2 years advising or representing educational institutions.
• Familiarity with Education Code, Title IX, California Government Code, and labor and employment statutes.
• Strong writing, advocacy, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working with school boards, superintendents, and HR personnel is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise public and private educational institutions on employment law matters, including employee discipline, termination, leave policies, wage and hour compliance, and workplace investigations
• Represent clients in administrative hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and litigation involving employee claims
• Draft and review employment-related agreements, board policies, and internal procedures for compliance with applicable state and federal laws
• Conduct trainings and workshops for administrators and staff on employment best practices and legal obligations
• Stay current on developments in labor and employment law as they relate to the education sector
• Work collaboratively with education law attorneys, school boards, and HR professionals to develop proactive legal strategies
