Job summary

Nationwide-Children in Columbus is seeking a part-time Unit Coordinator for a 0.6 FTE day shift (24 hours per week), 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with weekend and holiday requirements.

Under RN supervision, the incumbent performs secretarial and environmental duties and coordinates patient flow and communications. Responsibilities include maintaining patient charts and medical records, operating paging and tube systems, greeting and registering patients, stocking supplies, and guiding new staff.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPR certification (BLS Health Care Provider) required.
  • Prior health care experience preferred.
  • Successful completion of an approved unit coordinator or clerk course preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains patient charts and medical records.
  • Operates communication systems (telephone, paging, pneumatic tube).
  • Assists with greeting, admission, registration, transfer, transport, and discharge of patients.
  • Maintains unit and office supplies and stocking as needed.
  • Acts as a preceptor for orientation and training of Unit Coordinator staff.
  • Coordinates transport of medications from Pharmacy to practitioners or to secured storage.
  • Initiates Code Blue/Medical Assist/ACT and informs appropriate staff in emergencies.
