Job summary

ATSC IES INC in Gilbert, AZ is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design and integration of Counter-UAS platforms. You will develop ruggedized housings, deployable structures, and thermal management solutions for sensor suites and countermeasure systems.

The role requires 5+ years of experience in defense or robotics, proficiency with SolidWorks/Creo/CATIA, and strong collaboration with cross‑functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in mechanical design, preferably defense, aerospace, or robotics.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA).
• Experience with ruggedized hardware for outdoor/military environments.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD requirements (810, 461).

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and assemblies for C-UAS platforms.
• Perform structural, thermal, and vibration analysis.
• Support integration of radar, RF, EO/IR, and countermeasure systems into mobile and fixed platforms.
• Develop CAD models, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis and ensure manufacturability (DFM/DFA).
• Collaborate with electrical, RF, embedded systems, and systems engineering teams.
• Oversee prototype fabrication, assembly, and testing; troubleshoot mechanical issues.
• Manage environmental considerations such as IP ratings, EMI shielding, and thermal dissipation.
• Support field testing and system deployment activities, including travel to test ranges or customer sites.
• Interface with vendors and manufacturing partners to ensure quality and cost targets.
