John Sedgwick Middle School in Port Orchard, WA is seeking a C Team 6th Grade Baseball Coach for the Fall 2026 season. This is a part-time, stipend-based coaching role within the South Kitsap School District.

The coach will oversee intramural activities, coordinate contests, manage equipment, and collaborate with the athletic director and principal to provide a safe, inclusive, and fair learning environment for all players.

Qualifications

  • Capable of coaching all phases of the sport.
  • Assist in administration of contests.
  • Available on practice days and home/away contests.
  • Supervise locker room for home and away events.
  • Maintain equipment inventories pre- and post-season.
  • Be available to drive team vans.
  • Demonstrate strong discipline and sportsmanship.
  • Follow district and WIAA coaching duties.
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, trainers, AD and administration.
  • Reports to JSMS Athletic Director and Assistant Principal.

JOB SUMMARY: This is an intramural baseball coaching position at John Sedgwick Middle School. JSMS is a three-year comprehensive program that operates on a semester system. The mission of JSMS is to develop and promote learning in a safe, caring atmosphere bringing together community, family, student, and the teacher.

Basic Requirements
  • Capable of coaching all phases of the sport.
  • Assist in administration of contests.
  • Available on practice days.
  • Supervise locker room – home and away.
  • Available for home and away contests.
  • Responsible for equipment pre-season and post season inventories.
  • Be available to drive team vans.
  • Demand strong team discipline and sportsmanship.
  • Follow all coaching duties listed in the South Kitsap School District and WIAA handbooks.
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, trainers, athletic director and administration.
  • Reports to the JSMS Athletic Director and Assistant Principal.
  • Be available to drive team vans.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous participation in the sport.
  • Previous coaching experience.
Requirements
  • Valid and up-to-date First Aid and CPR certification PRIOR to beginning coaching experience.
  • Meet coaching certification standards as set forth by the South Kitsap School District and the WIAA.
  • Valid Washington driver's license and proof of insurance.
  • Fingerprints prior to beginning coaching experience at the expense of employee (Washington State Patrol and FBI Background Clearance).
