Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a software engineer to contribute to our data collection suite, primarily in C with some Python. You will participate in the full life cycle—from requirements and development to testing, documentation and user support—while exploring new tools or projects to extend the software suite.

The role emphasizes independent work and teamwork, with room to learn new languages and adapt to evolving needs within the team.

Qualifications

• Polished to expert programming skills in C.
• Proficient scripting skills with Bash.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to learn a new programming language or development environment given appropriate time and resources.
• Ability to work both independently and with teams, manage multiple projects, and elicit technical requirements from management and staff.

Responsibilities

• Develop software within our network data collection suite and push the bounds of tool usage.
• Work primarily in C, with some Python.
• Own or contribute to the full life-cycle of tools: requirements gathering, development, testing, documentation, and user support.
• Opportunity to develop new tools or projects to improve the software suite.
