Job summary

Ghost Robotics in Philadelphia is seeking a Senior/Staff/Lead C++ Software Engineer to design, implement, and maintain core robotics software and tooling. You will own architecture alongside building CI workflows and development environments, enabling fast, reliable delivery of complex systems.

The role emphasizes clean, high-performance C++ code, collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams, and mentoring less-experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in modern C++ (C++17 or newer) with production experience.
• RAII, smart pointers, move semantics, templates, concurrency, and clean API design.
• Solid software design principles and patterns.
• Experience in Linux development environments.
• Hands-on Git and collaborative workflows.
• Experience setting up/maintaining CI pipelines (GitLab preferred).
• Familiarity with CMake build systems.
• Strong debugging and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain high-quality C++ code for robotics systems.
• Apply modern C++ design patterns and best practices.
• Contribute to system architecture focusing on performance, safety, and maintainability.
• Set up Linux-based development environments.
• Configure and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines for build, test, and deployment.
• Improve build systems (CMake) and dependency management.
• Write unit and integration tests and support automated testing workflows.
• Collaborate with robotics, controls, and hardware engineers.
• Participate in code reviews and raise code quality.
