Job summary

Hudson River Trading (HRT) uses C++ as the core of its live trading systems and research infrastructure. Engineers design high-performance, fault-tolerant software powering trading across global markets, focusing on microsecond-scale latency and throughput.

As part of a collaborative team with researchers, traders, and hardware specialists, you will develop infrastructure for market data, order entry, and execution, while optimizing for latency and reliability.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of professional work experience.
  • Superior design, debugging, and problem solving skills.
  • Advanced C++ experience is required, daily use preferred.
  • Knowledge of UNIX operating systems (Linux), system/processor performance, and network communication.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize infrastructure for market data, order entry and execution logic across multiple asset classes.
  • Design fault-tolerant, low-latency systems for live trading, including data encoding over WAN links and recovery from hardware failures.
  • Profile and improve performance-critical code for throughput and latency in production environments.
  • Build and maintain infrastructure that drives products including distributed networks and scalable research workflows.
  • Write software interfacing with hardware such as FPGAs and ASICs used in trading systems.
