Job Description

Position Summary:

The Class C Lineman Transmission is an entry-level position involved in the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical transmission systems. The role requires working at various locations, with potential travel to other states based on customer demands.

Essential Functions

1. Perform construction, maintenance, or repair work on energized and de-energized transmission lines safely.
2. String overhead wire, set poles and anchors.
3. Work with energized high voltage systems, requiring caution to ensure safety.
4. Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools.
5. Work outdoors frequently, often in inclement weather.
6. Perform physical labor as required.
7. Learn about transmission voltages and induced voltage.
8. Safely set poles and work from aerial devices.
9. Assist in inspecting structures and troubleshooting.
10. Work alone on de-energized lines and assist with wire stringing, sagging, and tower assembly.
11. Work at heights and in confined spaces, properly using PPE.
12. Climb various structures and understand knot tying, grounding, and equipment setup.
13. Identify different line materials and understand safety procedures including flagging and basic bucket rescue.

Minimum Requirements

1. At least 1 year of field experience.
2. Effective communication in English.
3. Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days (preferred: CDL).
4. Ability to travel and work extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
5. Ability to lift over 50 lbs and inspect PPE and rubber goods.
6. Willingness to work live high voltage lines and overtime as needed.

Physical Demands

Must be able to talk, hear, stand, walk, handle objects, and reach frequently. The role involves physical effort to perform tasks effectively.

Work Environment

Primarily outdoor work with exposure to environmental conditions like fumes, dust, and gases.
