Job summary

Job description

Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled C-Class Burner to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with cutting and burning metal using various methods such as oxy-fuel, plasma, or other cutting technologies. As a C-Class Burner, you will be responsible for operating cutting equipment to shape and prepare metal parts according to specifications, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Cutting Operations: Operate and set up oxy-fuel, plasma, or other cutting equipment to burn metal parts according to work orders, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Blueprint & Drawing Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine cutting specifications, material requirements, and dimensions for each job.
  • Equipment Setup: Set up and adjust cutting equipment, ensuring correct material handling and proper machine settings to meet production requirements.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished cuts for accuracy and ensure they meet required specifications and quality standards. Make adjustments to processes if needed to maintain part quality.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform basic maintenance on cutting equipment, including inspecting tools and machines for wear and tear. Troubleshoot minor issues and report major equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe handling of materials, and safe operation of cutting equipment.
  • Material Handling: Load and unload metal materials onto cutting machines, ensuring proper alignment and securing of parts before cutting.
  • Collaboration: Work as part of the production team, collaborating with other workers to ensure jobs are completed on time and to specification.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work completed, including the type and amount of material used, and report any production issues or delays.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional training or certification in metalworking, welding, or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience: Previous experience in burning or cutting metal is preferred, but entry-level candidates with basic knowledge of cutting techniques are encouraged to apply. Experience using oxy-fuel, plasma, or other cutting equipment is an advantage.
  • Skills: Ability to operate and adjust cutting equipment for optimal performance; strong understanding of safety protocols when operating cutting equipment; ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints; attention to detail and focus on quality in the cutting process; basic troubleshooting skills for equipment issues; ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs; ability to stand, bend, and work for extended periods; comfortable working in a noisy, hot, and industrial environment; must be able to wear appropriate PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
