Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a backend-focused engineer to design and implement end-to-end infrastructure and features for the Codex desktop client. You will work on a hybrid in‑office/remote model in San Francisco, collaborating across a small, experienced team to define what a high-performance web-browser-like experience means for Codex.

You will contribute primarily to the C++ backend and Chromium layers, with some cross-stack work in TypeScript and Python. Relocation support is offered for this role.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building technically complex features end-to-end.
• Strong C++ developer with browser environment experience (Chromium/Electron).
• Familiarity with web development concepts; TypeScript knowledge helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement infrastructure and features end-to-end for the Codex desktop client application.
• Contribute to API design and deployment infrastructure across Python, TypeScript, and related tooling.
