Job description

C-26- Fairchild Metroliner Army Transport Aircraft Mechanic (FAA A&P). Aurora CO.

The C-26 Fairchild Metroliner - Army Transport Aircraft Mechanic (FAA A&P) performs organizational and intermediate level maintenance on C-26 aircraft.

Responsibilities include servicing, troubleshooting, repairing and modifying aircraft systems to ensure continued airworthiness. These tasks are performed on avionics & electrical systems, engines, flight controls, and airframe components.

Repairs are performed using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.

Comply with aircraft records procedures outlined in DA PAM 738-751 and ensure aircraft discrepancies are properly recorded in accordance with approved maintenance procedures and within the terms of the contract.

Understand the functions and requirements of computerized maintenance software and perform aircraft recovery missions as necessary.

Perform engine run or taxi operations and meet the requirement to obtain certification within 12 months of employment.

Read and interpret manufacturers’ maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.

Qualifications:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  2. Valid FAA A&P Certificate is required.
  3. Mechanic Tools and Toolbox are required; mechanics must provide their own tools and toolbox, which must be shadowed with tools etched with PID.
  4. Valid Driver's License is required.
  5. Must be willing and able to work any shift assigned under the Union CBA; current shift is M-F 40 hours a week.

Experience Levels:

  1. AM-1: Requires two (2) years A&P experience, with two (2) or more years of specific C-26 being preferred.
  2. AM-2: Requires five (5) years of C-26 hands-on A&P aircraft mechanic experience.
  3. AM-3: Requires ten (10) years of A&P mechanic experience, and thirteen (13) years of C-26 specific aircraft experience.

Medical/Physical Requirements:

All personnel performing engine runs, ground taxi, ordnance loading, or operating self-propelled support equipment within 10 feet of the aircraft silhouette must pass a physical examination from a qualified medical professional prior to conducting these operations, and subsequently on a specified periodic basis, not to exceed 5 years.

Security Clearance Requirements:

Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Govt Secret Security Clearance. US Citizenship is required to hold a US Govt Secret Clearance and facility credentials and authorization to work at this facility.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Comply with the FAA regulations as applicable.
  2. Know, understand and comply with the requirements outlined in the contract performance work statement (PWS).
  3. May be required to work and/or rotate for a multiple shift operation.
  4. Possesses a valid FAA Aircraft & Powerplant (A&P) license and shows compliance with FAR 65.83, recent experience requirements.
  5. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
  6. Reliable, self-motivated, and able to deal with stressful situations and timelines while maintaining a professional and non-confrontational attitude.
  7. Ability to move freely about the interior and in the unpressurized area aft of the aft pressure bulkhead and meet aircraft specific specs for weight limit.
  8. Stand, squat, sit, walk, work with arms overhead for extended periods of time.
  9. Pull, push, lift up to 50 lbs.
