Job summary

The KellyMitchell Group is seeking a Buyout Buyer in St. Louis, MO to source non-stock materials and outside services, evaluate supplier quotations, and negotiate terms.

The role emphasizes ownership of purchase requests, supplier follow‑ups, and timely delivery to meet customer commitments. You will work with Sales, Operations, Logistics, Quality, and Accounting to ensure accurate records and responsive purchasing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience as a material buyer/purchaser or procurement support is preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office and ERP/inventory systems is expected.

Responsibilities

• Request quotations from domestic and international suppliers.
• Compare quotations and negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery.
• Place and expedite purchase orders; maintain delivery updates.
• Coordinate with Sales, Operations, and Logistics on requirements.
• Communicate supplier updates and resolve issues promptly.
• Support inventory, quality, and timing objectives for product lines.
• Maintain supplier relationships and up-to-date supply-base information.
• Review quotations and purchase data to inform decisions.

Job description

Our client is seeking a Buyout Buyer to join their team. This team is looking for a resourceful, detail-oriented Buyout Buyer to source non-stock materials and outside services for customer and operational needs. This position evaluates supplier quotations, negotiates purchasing terms, and helps ensure the right materials arrive at the right time and cost. The right candidate takes ownership of purchase requests, follows up with suppliers, and resolves issues before they affect customer commitments. Strong negotiation, clear communication, and attention to quality and delivery are essential in this fast-paced purchasing role. The Buyout Buyer works with domestic and international suppliers and collaborates closely with Sales, Operations, Logistics, Quality, and Accounting. Success requires sound purchasing judgment, organized follow-through, accurate records, and the ability to respond to changing material requirements.

Core Responsibilities

• Request quotations for materials, products, and outside services from domestic and international suppliers. Identify sourcing options that meet customer specifications and business needs
• Compare quotations and negotiate pricing, quality, terms, and delivery schedules to obtain strong overall value for the company
• Place and expedite assigned purchase orders, follow up with vendors, and maintain current schedules and delivery updates
• Work with Sales, Operations, and Logistics to respond to quotation requests, purchase requirements, and material needs
• Communicate supplier updates and resolve open issues
• Support inventory, quality, and timing objectives for assigned product lines using product information and current and projected market conditions
• Develop and maintain domestic and international supplier relationships and up-to-date supply-base information to support reliable purchasing activity
• Review supplier quotations, product requirements, and inventory information; resolve discrepancies, track market trends, and prepare purchasing reports to support informed decisions

Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proven experience as a material buyer, purchaser, in procurement support, or in a relevant role in metals, distribution, or a related business environment
• Strong supplier communication, negotiation, and follow-up skills
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to use ERP, purchasing, inventory, and supplier-related systems
• Ability to evaluate quotations, research market information, analyze data, and support purchasing decisions

Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain, procurement, or a related field
• Experience with steel, pipe, tubing, fittings, flanges, metals, industrial supply, or distribution
• Experience sourcing materials from domestic and international suppliers
• Familiarity with purchasing practices, market research, inventory planning, and forecasting techniques
• Location: St. Louis, MO
• Onsite – 5 days a week
• Permanent full time
• Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $70,000.00 and $80,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
