Our client, a provider of lighting control and energy management solutions is seeking a Buying Analyst for this company of 650+ employees. This client delivers robust products that serve the electrical, pool and spa, HVAC/R, retail and OEM markets. This individual is responsible for sourcing and procuring direct materials to support manufacturing and new product development. The current team of 10 includes Planning Analysts, Sourcers, and Business Intelligence. This role works a hybrid schedule, 3 days in office in Libertyville, IL and 2 days from home. The role pays in the $80K - $85K range, includes a 5% bonus and unlimited PTO with a strong benefit package.
The key to this role is past proven success sourcing and procuring direct materials to support manufacturing and new product development. This role manages supplier relationships, negotiates pricing and contracts, ensures material availability, and drives cost, quality, and delivery performance while partnering with cross-functional teams. The incumbent will:
- Lead and manage the strategic sourcing of electronic components, plastic resin, mechanical parts, metal components, and other direct materials/commodities, including supplier selection, procurement, delivery, quality and relationship management.
- Identify and implement sourcing and process improvements to enable product and corporate objectives.
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify strategic sourcing partnerships for electronic components, plastic resin, mechanical parts, raw materials, and finished goods, both domestically and internationally.
- Assess capabilities of suppliers and map those capabilities to short and long term objectives.
- Work collaboratively with internal functions and external suppliers to qualify requirements, timing and scope of bringing new products and product enhancements to market.
- Sourcing execution to ensure the company has a continuous and stable supply of quality materials, components and finished goods which includes anticipating and addressing supply issues by working closely with Sales, Marketing, Planning, Forecasting, Quality and Manufacturing teams.
- Lead supplier negotiations, cost reduction initiatives, value engineering projects, and quality improvement programs for assigned commodities and product categories.
- Develop, measure, and manage supplier performance metrics and goals to assist in supplier development and continuous supply/supplier improvement.
- Build strong partnerships with key suppliers and leverage those relationships for win/win sourcing performance.
- Participate in supplier contract negotiations and support long-term supplier agreements.
- Monitor market conditions, commodity trends, material availability, and supplier capacity for assigned commodities, including electronic components, resins, metals, and mechanical parts.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field of study preferred
- 5+ years of purchasing, strategic sourcing, supply chain, or commodity management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years experience sourcing electronic components, mechanical parts, plastic resin, metal components, packaging materials, or other direct manufacturing materials preferred.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers of electronic components, mechanical parts, plastic resin, packaging materials, and other manufacturing commodities, including negotiating supplier agreements and managing supplier performance.
- Ability to think analytically developing or utilizing analytics and performance metrics to manage costs and supplier performance.
- Ability to travel domestically and to Juarez, Mexico plant if needed at <10%
