Job summary

Cagayan State University is seeking an on-site Supply Chain intern to support purchasing, logistics, and inventory activities in Austin, TX. You will work with real supplier data, learn ERP systems, and contribute to cost-saving analyses.

You will leverage Excel/Sheets, engage with suppliers, and help build dashboards and automations to improve sourcing and shipping efficiency. This internship runs January 12 to April 16, 2027, with potential for continued development.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in a relevant field (supply chain, operations, logistics, industrial engineering, business).
• Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills (lookups, pivot tables, data cleaning) and clear communication.
• Experience with ERP or inventory systems and interest in sourcing, shipping, and automation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Request quotes, compare suppliers on price, lead time, and quality, and place purchase orders for R&D and production materials.
• Track open orders, follow up with suppliers on delivery dates, and flag delays to prevent build holds.
• Schedule freight, obtain carrier quotes, and coordinate with shipping/receiving teams to ensure proper goods receipt.
• Maintain accurate inventory data (part numbers, BOMs, stock levels, and purchase records) in ERP/inventory tools.
• Analyze spend and lead times to identify cost savings and alternative sources for key parts.
• Develop trackers, dashboards, and simple automations, including AI tools, to streamline buying and logistics processes.
• Manage a supply chain project end-to-end and present results to leadership.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Scheduling inbound and outbound freight, obtaining carrier quotes, and coordinating with shipping and receiving teams to ensure materials are checked in and delivered correctly.
• Maintaining accurate inventory data including part numbers, bills of materials, stock levels, and purchase records in ERP and inventory tools.
• Analyzing spend and lead times to identify cost savings and alternative sources for key parts.
• Developing trackers, dashboards, and simple automations, including AI tools, to streamline buying and logistics processes.
• Managing a supply chain project from start to finish and presenting results to the Supply Chain & Manufacturing leadership team.

About You

The company is looking for candidates who have:

• Current enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program in supply chain management, operations, logistics, industrial engineering, business, or a related field.
• Availability to work on-site at the Austin, TX facility from January 12 to April 16, 2027.
• Strong skills in Excel or Google Sheets, including lookups, pivot tables, and data cleaning.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple open items and ensure follow-through.
• Clear and professional communication abilities via email and phone with suppliers and carriers.
• Curiosity about sourcing, building, and shipping physical products.

• Preferred qualifications include coursework or experience in procurement, purchasing, inventory, or logistics.
• Experience with ERP or inventory systems such as NetSuite, SAP, or Odoo.
• Familiarity with freight, shipping terms (Incoterms), and import/customs basics.
• Experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or hardware environments.
• Comfort using AI tools, scripts, or no-code tools to automate repetitive tasks.
