Description
We are looking for a seasoned procurement and planning professional ready to hit the ground running and immediately make a difference. This hybrid Buyer / Planner position will build and execute shop floor production schedules, manage material requirements (MRP), purchase production materials as well as MRO supplies, and collaborate with engineering to source materials for new designs.
What You'll Do
- Production Planning & Scheduling: Convert customer demand and sales orders into achievable master production schedules (MPS), level-loading production lines to optimize throughput and minimize setup downtime.
- Work Order Management: Create, release, sequence, and track shop floor work orders (WOs) / job travelers, actively monitoring Work-in-Progress (WIP) to resolve bottlenecks and scrap issues.
- Material Requirements Planning (MRP): Align procurement schedules with production timelines to ensure 100% component availability prior to releasing jobs to the floor, preventing line stalls.
- Procurement Execution & MRO Management: Coordinate all activities related to the procurement of production commodities and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) orders, managing the process from intent to purchase through final delivery.
- Commodity Analysis: Analyze commodity requirements, including preliminary specifications, preferred suppliers, and required delivery dates.
- Schedule & Quality Control: Assure commodities, shop orders, and MRO requisitions are delivered on schedule and meet company quality standards.
- Document Retention: Maintain timely control of purchase orders, work orders, engineering amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to ensure accurate retention of records.
- Invoice & Receiving Resolution: Assist accounting and receiving in resolving discrepancies with invoices, POs, and receiving documentation.
- Expediting & Vendor Follow-Up: Contact vendors via email, phone, or site visits to verify scheduled shipments and expedite critical shortages.
- Floor Alignment: Participate in daily production huddles with shop floor leads, supervisors, and shipping to track schedule attainment and On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery metrics.
- Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Experience reading engineering documents, drawings, and technical specifications.
- APICS / ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP) preferred.
- Knowledge of QAD ERP system (specifically MPS/MRP modules).
- Experience purchasing and planning for PCBs, Sheet Metal, custom cable assemblies, and electronic components.
Must Have
- 4-year degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail.
- Hands‑on ERP / MRP experience (scheduling, work order execution, inventory control, and purchasing).
- Hands‑on experience issuing and managing MRO purchase orders alongside direct production procurement.
- Advanced user proficiency with Microsoft Office (specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Strong organizational and cross‑functional teamwork skills.
- Experience sourcing electronic components.
- Experience setting up Long‑Term Agreements (LTAs).
