Job Description
The Buyer II is tasked with purchasing current and newly designed products, ensuring the lowest cost and on-time delivery, while managing non-conforming products. The role involves maintaining ERP data crucial for production, analyzing data to recognize trends, and developing strategies to meet company costs and supply requirements. High levels of decision-making, problem solving, reasoning, creativity, and analysis are required.
Responsibilities
Initiate and process Purchase Orders as defined by MRP outputs and the Planning team.
Ensure suppliers adhere to pricing and lead time agreements for on-time product delivery at the negotiated price.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve receiving, inspection, and inventory issues.
Track and manage backorders, providing input to Service Operations, Demand Planning, and Customer Service teams.
Understand, implement, and react to job-specific metrics.
Identify opportunities for savings and support Strategic Sourcing through adjunct project functions.
Manage tracking metrics for buyers and suppliers to ensure performance standards are met.
Utilize Excel for forecasting, requiring at least 1-year experience.
Work with the NPI team as needed.
Handle purchasing for 2-3 product lines with 150-250 SKUs.
Negotiate prices of raw materials with current vendors, mainly domestic suppliers, but occasionally work with international suppliers involving ports / customs.
Experience in purchasing and planning.
Knowledge of ERP / MRP systems, preferably SAGE 3X, Oracle, JDE, or SAP.
BA Degree required.
APICS certification is a plus.
Experience in regulated industries such as medical devices, aerospace, or pharma.
6+ years of supply chain experience, combining buying and planning.
Experience handling 250+ SKUs.
Forecasting experience of 1 year or more.
Proficiency in negotiations.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and VLOOKUPs; macros are a plus.
Focus on raw materials rather than finished goods.
NPI experience is beneficial.
Ability to read / decipher BOMs and technical drawings.
Inventory management expertise.

The work environment is located in a medical device production facility with an onsite office. Employees must be comfortable walking the manufacturing floor. Work hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM, with some flexibility to start earlier or later. The team is small, with each member designated to manage 2-3 product lines covering around 250 SKUs. The role requires someone who can handle high stress, stay calm under pressure, and work effectively with multiple departments, including production, sales, and engineering.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00 / hr.
