Job description

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Buyer/Planner is a key member of the staff, responsible for planning and purchasing direct materials used in production. This position collaborates with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery at competitive prices while maintaining optimal inventory levels.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Work with internal stakeholders to execute sourcing strategies aligned with business goals to meet targets and promote continuous improvement.
2. Identify supply chain and procurement issues and develop effective solutions promptly.
3. Execute purchase orders with preselected suppliers and follow up to ensure timely delivery.
4. Manage supply delays, shortages, or vendor issues with minimal impact on operations.
5. Update EPR with current and accurate delivery dates.
6. Escalate planning errors, price changes, and lead time issues to relevant teams.
7. Communicate engineering change requirements to suppliers when needed.
8. Coordinate with warehouse staff to resolve purchase order discrepancies efficiently.
9. Support suppliers with blocked invoices to ensure timely payments.
10. Handle obsolete and slow-moving inventory disposition as required.
11. Maintain procurement data integrity in the ERP system.
12. Communicate supply chain issues and potential solutions across teams.
13. Stay informed on market trends affecting supply and demand.
14. Support procurement needs across organizational levels.
15. Develop and maintain supplier relationships.
16. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
17. Adhere to Epiroc's Purchasing policies.
18. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree preferred; certifications like APICS, CPSM, or Supply Chain are a plus.
• Minimum 3+ years in procurement or related field.
• Experience in supply chain management and manufacturing operations.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing preferred.
• ERP experience (M3 or others) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
