Job summary

Primetals Technologies, a group company of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, is seeking a Buying/Administration Specialist for our Axis, AL location. This in-office role covers Sales Administration, Purchasing, and Job Management with broad responsibilities.

Key duties include preparing quotations, handling customer POs, managing CPT programs, and coordinating all aspects of purchasing, shipping, and delivery. SAP experience is required; steel mill maintenance exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Relevance of prior experience in related roles preferred.
• Experience with SAP, especially purchasing modules, is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and provide spare parts and job quotations to customers.
• Receive POs and prepare sales order documentation.
• Manage purchasing and administrative tasks for CPT programs and related shipments.
• Coordinate shipping, trucking, and deliveries; ensure SAP postings and cost tracking.
• Support finance with timekeeping, inventory reconciliations, and period closings.

We are currently looking for a Buying/Administration Specialist for our Axis, AL location. This position is an in-office position of very broad scope including tasks related to Sales Administration, Purchasing, Job Management and Other Responsibilities.

SALES

• Prepare and provide spare part and job-related quotations to customers.
• Receive customer POs and prepare necessary Sales Order documentation.
• Frequent customer interfacing and promotion of Primetals services and capabilities.

PURCHASING

• Purchase of all materials necessary at the Calvert site including purchase of job-related materials, parts, and services, and purchase of all factory supplies, tooling, consumables, and materials necessary for business operations.
• Supply chain development and management for all goods and service commodities.
• Management of goods receipt, inventory control, goods issue to jobs, cost allocation, etc.

JOB MANAGEMENT

• Job will entail purchasing and administrative management of specific customer Cost per Ton (CPT) and spare parts programs, such as with SSAB. This is revenue volume of $7-8M annually.
• Provide necessary control and tracking of internal work in the shop.
• Validate employee timekeeping accuracy and reporting to payroll.
• Ensure job completions and closure in SAP and provide shipping documentation.
• Manage and coordinate all trucking and deliveries and receipts of goods.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide support to finance regarding timekeeping, inventory reconciliations, period closings, monthly reporting, etc.
• Provide general office management and administrative support for the location.
• Other duties as assigned.

This position reports to the site General Manager but will additionally require close communications and coordination with all levels of the organization including the site Financial Controller, Plant Superintendent, shop floor Supervisors, and hourly personnel.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

• High school degree
• Relevant job experience
• SAP experience required, including purchasing modules
• Ideal candidate has experience specifically in steel mill maintenance operations
• Ideal candidate will also have hands-on experience in mill equipment repair
