Job summary

Primetals Technologies USA is hiring Mechanics for Calvert, AL. You will perform preventive maintenance on production machines, troubleshoot issues, and assist with alignment and repair work to keep equipment running at peak performance.

We require a High School diploma or equivalent and experience in mechanical maintenance; training for crane/forklift certification is provided. Travel to other locations may be required.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent required; experience determines level and pay rate.
• Experience in mechanical maintenance and equipment repair preferred.
• Crane/Forklift in-house training provided for certification.
• Familiarity with precision measuring tools and safety equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains machinery by completing preventive maintenance as per manuals and specs.
• Dismantles, moves, and repairs industrial machinery per blueprints and diagrams.
• Lifts, aligns, and installs equipment such as conveyors; checks tolerances.
• Locates problems by observing devices and using precision instruments.
• Replaces defective parts and reduces downtime through routine PM.
• Operates machine tools to rework or fabricate parts; travel to other sites may be required.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

We are looking to hire Mechanics for our Calvert, AL. This location is responsible for Caster repair including bearing fitment, roll building, hydraulic troubleshooting, precision measurements of roll surfaces and bearing tolerances, manual alignment and laser alignment, removal and installation of gear boxes, etc.

Responsibilities:

• Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Dismantles, moves, assembles, installs, welds, torch work, and repairs industrial machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions.
• Dismantles equipment and machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools; moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks; assembles and installs equipment such as conveyors, using hand and power tools; constructs foundations; aligns machines; performs scheduled inspection and maintenance.
• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Removes defective parts by dismantling devices, using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools.
• Controls downtime through use of effective routine preventive maintenance techniques
• Sets up and operates machine tools and fabrication machinery to rework or make new parts.
• Travel to other locations may be required.
• Other work may be assigned at Management's direction.

Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge:

• High School or Equivalent
• Experience needed; Experience and skills determines classification level and pay rate
• Crane/Forklift – In-house training provided to obtain certification
• Proper use of tools such as Micrometers, Bore Gages, Indicators, Hydraulic Tools and other hand tools
• Proper use of Safety Equipment such as Safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves and ear plugs
