Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Buyer II, Outside Processing for a leading manufacturing organization serving the aerospace, defense, medical, automotive, and industrial markets. This is a full-time, onsite opportunity in Buena Park, CA for a purchasing professional who will play a critical role in coordinating outside processing and ensuring production jobs move efficiently through external finishing and special process vendors.
The Buyer II, Outside Processing will manage the purchasing and coordination of external manufacturing processes that support production, including plating, anodizing, painting, heat treatment, chemical film, laser marking, and nondestructive testing. This role will manage purchase orders, vendor commitments, priorities, and delivery schedules while partnering closely with Planning, Operations, Quality, Receiving, and Shipping. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where vendor follow-through directly impacts production schedules and customer delivery.
Purchase and coordinate outside processing services including plating, anodizing, chemical film, painting, powder coating, passivation, heat treatment, laser marking, impregnation, and nondestructive testing through approved suppliers. Create, maintain, and close purchase orders in the ERP system while ensuring accurate quantities, pricing, specifications, revisions, due dates, quality requirements, and documentation. Monitor production jobs approaching outside processing, coordinate releases to vendors, and prioritize work based on customer deadlines, production requirements, and shipment needs. Track parts throughout the outside processing cycle, confirm vendor commitments, proactively expedite delayed or at-risk orders, and coordinate receiving, inspection, and routing once parts return. Partner with Quality, Engineering, Planning, Operations, Receiving, and Shipping to resolve processing issues, documentation requirements, nonconforming material, quantity discrepancies, and other supplier-related issues. Forecast upcoming outside processing demand, communicate expected requirements to suppliers, and support supplier capacity, pricing, lead-time, and sourcing initiatives.
Purchasing, buying, procurement, or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment, ideally involving outside processing, special processes, finishing, or supplier coordination. Experience creating and managing purchase orders and working with suppliers regarding pricing, specifications, lead times, delivery commitments, and issue resolution. Working knowledge of ERP or MRP purchasing functions, production routings, purchase orders, receiving, and the flow of materials through manufacturing operations. Strong Excel skills with the ability to organize and track multiple open orders, vendor commitments, priorities, and delivery dates. Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong follow-through, communication skills, urgency, and the ability to manage multiple suppliers and production priorities.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $68,000 - $82,000 annually , depending on qualifications and relevant experience.
