Job summary

Air Squared Manufacturing, Inc. is an OEM manufacturer of scroll type compressors and related equipment. The Buyer II will oversee purchasing activities, qualify suppliers, negotiate terms and monitor supplier performance to achieve favorable terms and reliable supply.

Requirements include a degree in business or supply chain and multiple years in sourcing/purchasing; experience with MRP/ERP and Excel is expected. This role may involve travel and requires collaboration across internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or related field preferred.
• 4+ years in sourcing/purchasing in an ISO manufacturing environment preferred.
• IS/CSCP or CPSM certification preferred.
• Proficient with MRP and other ERP systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Submit RFQs, generate and maintain POs for strategic suppliers.
• Manage supplier delivery schedules and ensure MRP accuracy.
• Identify cost savings opportunities and supplier improvements.
• Maintain supplier relationships and lead business reviews.
• Monitor safety stock, reorder points and inventory levels.
• Coordinate with internal teams on quality and delivery issues.
• Coordinate RMA processes and supplier credits/replacements.
• Collaborate on Engineering Change Requests and drawings.
• Produce analytics and reports; travel to supplier sites as needed.

Air Squared Manufacturing, Inc. is an OEM manufacturer of scroll type compressors, vacuum pumps and expanders for the medical, aerospace, fuel cell and power generation industries. Air Squared offers exciting career opportunities working on projects including NASA MOXIE, Leading Electric and Autonomous Vehicle OEM, DOE Clean Energy initiatives ranging from nuclear fusion and the Advanced Research Projects Agency - Energy (ARPA-e), and other cutting‑edge projects.

We are looking for a Buyer II to be responsible for purchasing material, supplies and services at the most favorable terms for the organization. Buyer II will support qualifying suppliers, evaluating terms, and negotiating pricing for purchased goods and services and improving supplier performance.

Pay Range: $65,000 – 80,000 / year, based on qualifications and experience

Buyer II Job Responsibilities:

• Submit requests for quotes (RFQs), generate and maintain purchase orders (POs) for goods and services for tactical and strategic suppliers
• Manage supplier delivery schedules and ensure MRP information is current and accurate
• Identify cost savings opportunities
• Maintain relationships with and improve the performance of current suppliers
• Lead business reviews with suppliers to review KPIs and discuss other topics
• Monitor and maintain safety stock levels, minimum/maximum inventory levels and reorder points
• Coordinate with internal customers, including Logistics, A/P, SQE, Operations, etc. to communicate and resolve quality, lead times, delivery, and/or other matters as they arise
• Coordinate RMA process with suppliers including logistics, ERP changes, status, and determining credits or replacements
• Collaborate with other departments and suppliers on Engineering Change Requests, drawing changes and other technical matters
• Assists in conducting research and analytics, including generating and presenting reports
• Potential for local and domestic travel to supplier locations as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Buyer II Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or related field (preferred) or associate’s degree or minimum of 4-years’ experience in a sourcing and/or purchasing role (required) in an ISO certified manufacturing environment (preferred)
• Industry certification such as Institute for Supply Management CPSM (preferred) or Association for Supply Chain Management (APICS) CSCP.
• Demonstrates a high level of proficiency and self-sufficiency with MRP and other systems to be a resource for others
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal skills to work with team members and suppliers
• Negotiation and moderate contracting skills
• Strong PC and MS Office suite skills with intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Excel (required)
• Power BI experience (preferred)
• Action oriented - Proactively manage suppliers by creating or modifying POs to satisfy demand and general correspondence, streamline procurement, and resolve issues quickly. Manage and resolve delivery performance.
• Plans and aligns - Support the Factory by ensuring material is available in support of production schedules for complex items, internal and external secondary processes and manage inventory to Supply Chain goals using analysis and systems.
• Managing ambiguity - Make informed decisions despite uncertainty in supply, demand, and market conditions. Adapt to changing priorities, resolve disruptions, and find solutions with limited data.
• Collaborator - Work closely with suppliers, internal teams, and stakeholders to ensure smooth procurement and operations.
• Effective Communicator - Clearly convey expectations to suppliers, ensuring accurate orders, pricing, and delivery timelines. Coordinate with internal teams to align purchasing with business needs and quickly address issues.
