Job summary

EnergyLink Sourcing LLC, the centralized supply chain arm of Quanta Services, is seeking a Buyer I in Houston to manage the full purchasing cycle for critical infrastructure projects. You will collaborate with category managers, planners, and project teams to optimize spend, ensure availability, and improve supply chain performance.

This entry-level role offers exposure to strategic sourcing, supplier management, and cross-functional operations within a dynamic project environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in SCM, Business, Finance, or related field required; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum 1 year of purchasing, planning, or relevant supply chain experience; APICS or certifications preferred.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Clear and confident communication across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Procure with precision: plan and execute purchase orders from field requisitions, schedules, BOMs, and inventory needs.
  • Ensure on-time delivery: monitor order status, resolve delivery issues, communicate impacts to planners/managers.
  • Vendor relationship management: maintain daily supplier communication for timely fulfillment and compliance.
  • Inventory intelligence: update system data for cost, lead times, safety stock, and reorder parameters.
  • Problem solver: identify supply risks and propose alternatives to maintain material flow.
  • Lead tactical sourcing: conduct RFx for non-strategic items and negotiate terms.
  • Data-driven decisions: manage data accuracy and use sourcing tools to improve value.
  • Project support: maintain project tracking pages and coordinate supplier deliveries.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: work with operations, project teams, and partners to meet needs.
  • Adhere to internal standards and perform duties as assigned.

About this Role

As a Buyer I, you will play a vital role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and equipment that power critical infrastructure projects. You’ll manage the full purchasing cycle from order planning and logistics to vendor performance and issue resolutions supporting multiple project teams and supply chain initiatives across the enterprise. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to build experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management, and supply chain operations. You will work closely with category managers, planners, and project teams to optimize spending, ensure availability, and improve supply chain performance.

What You'll Do
  • Procure with Precision:Plan and execute purchase orders based on field requisitions, project schedules, BOMs, and inventory needs.

  • Project Support:Maintain project tracking pages and coordinate supplier delivery updates for project teams.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:Interface with operations, project teams, and supply chain partners to anticipate needs and resolve procurement challenges.
  • Perform special projects and completes other duties as assigned or requested
  • Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures
What You'll Bring
  • Associate degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or a related field required; equivalent experience considered.
