Summary

The Advance Purchasing Buyer is responsible for the procurement and purchasing functions for new projects, engineering changes and customer-driven volume variations. This role collaborates closely with senior buyers, sales, project managers and engineering teams to ensure timely, cost-effective sourcing of materials and services are met within deadlines by following the Autoneum purchasing process.

The Advanced Purchasing Buyer ensures that project requirements are met on time, within budget, and optimal quality. The role also focuses on executing purchasing strategies that achieve the best value through effective negotiations and supplier management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Sourcing & Procurement:
• Manage the procurement process for new projects, engineering changes, and customer-driven volume variations.
• Source materials and services from suppliers aligned with project requirements and cost targets.
• Work closely with internal teams (sales, project management, engineering) to ensure material specifications and timelines are met.
• Support the implementation of purchasing strategies to optimize cost savings while maintaining high quality and delivery standards.
• Focus on securing the lowest possible prices through effective negotiations and competitive sourcing.
• Establish and maintain strong, cooperative relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability, cost-effectiveness, and quality of materials.
• Support on adding new suppliers to the Autoneum database.
• Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules with vendors to achieve the best value for the organization.
• Project Support & Coordination:
• Ensure materials and services are delivered on time and in line with project schedules.
• Track purchasing expenditures, monitor budgets, and support project teams in meeting project milestones and financial targets
• Act as liaison between supplier base and project to: coordinate kick-off, nomination, milestone, tech reviews between Autoenum project leaders and supply base.
• Responsible for supplier nominations as deliverable metric per project schedule.
• Process Compliance:
• Adhere to the Autoneum purchasing process and ensure all procurement activities are following company policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Document and maintain accurate records of purchasing activities, project performance, purchasing trends.
• Complementary duties:
• Lead and support Purchasing Directors/Managers on the implementation of cost improvement projects
• Support Plant Logistics and Manufacturing departments on delivery issues
• Other duties as assigned

Education / Experience

• Minimum 2 - 4 years of experience in various procurement functions as well as cross-functional experience gained in procurement related functional areas.
• Ability to travel up to 30%

Language Ability

• Ability to analyze and interpret complex documents responding effectively to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies and/or vendor

Math Ability

• Strong math skills are required
• Ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and communicate results to management
• Must be detail oriented, results are visible within several areas.

Computer Skills

• Must be proficient with MS Office applications
• Must have a working knowledge of spreadsheet applications, e-mail, internet and database software
• Work within SAP ERP system (included but not limited to scheduling agreement, pricing history, deliveries, bill of materials, staging process)

Travel is required, by car or air, to visit suppliers and manufacturing locations. Some international travel could be required.

Position frequently requires more than 40 hours per week.
