Job summary

ABB is seeking a Buyer - ELSP in Mebane, North Carolina to procure production materials per specifications, price, delivery schedules and terms. You will align purchasing activities with corporate policies and collaborate with the category team to identify new suppliers.

Your role involves placing POs, expediting orders, maintaining inventory levels, coordinating BOM changes, and resolving supplier PO issues to keep production running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Materials, Planning, Purchasing, Inventory Management, etc.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel, Outlook) and purchasing software, SAP preferred
• Strong planning and organizational skills; Analytical with a methodical approach to problem solving; Ability to work under pressure
• You are at ease communicating in English, written and verbal.
• Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

Responsibilities

• Place purchase orders with suppliers for production material as required by forecast and the production schedule; monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all materials.
• Expedite or defer orders as required based on schedule/inventory discrepancies and/or adjustments; determine and establish optimal inventory levels based on forecast, demand variation and material lead times.
• Coordinate material flows throughout product/BOM changes, obsolescence, and introduction of new suppliers and/or materials due to new product development or launches; provide help and support to internal materials areas such as Receiving, Warehouse & Inventory Management to ensure proper transactions are done in the system.
• Manage and resolve issues regarding PO due to invoice discrepancies, returns and/or quality issues within the supplier data base.

The work model for the role is: Onsite, Mebane, NC.

In this role as Buyer - ELSP, you will have the opportunity to purchase materials according to required technical specifications, price, delivery schedule, and terms. Each day, you will ensure purchasing activities align with corporate purchasing policies and procedures. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying new suppliers in cooperation with the relevant category team.
