Description

Mission of the Role

The Buyer contributes to a high-quality customer experience by ensuring the reliability, availability, and appropriate quantities of stock and on-hand inventory are available when needed to meet customer needs. This includes processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, maintaining inventory, quality assurance, and liaising with inventory teams and management. The buyer will collaborate across departments to manage min/max inventory levels and make purchase decisions based on demand, aligned with SupplyOne’s procurement standards and practices.

Key Duties & Accountabilities

1. Process and confirm purchase orders (POs) and communicate what needs to be ordered in REACT.
2. Respond to all emails by the end of the business day.
3. Maintain and update price lists on the appropriate drive.
4. Resolve vendor issues promptly and escalate when necessary.
5. Gather customer needs or preferences by consulting with sales personnel.
6. Analyze purchase requests for need, volume, price, and quantity.
7. Manage open POs, back orders, and inventory levels; alert Customer Service to changes affecting delivery.
8. Negotiate prices, discounts, and transportation arrangements with suppliers.
9. Authorize invoice payments or merchandise returns.
10. Monitor sales records, trends, and economic conditions to forecast customer demand and inventory needs.
11. Control stock levels based on forecasts, min/max levels, and reports.
12. Facilitate new item setup, including tap-offs and proof approvals.
13. Maintain thorough email records.
14. Assist with slow-moving inventory.
15. Expedite materials based on customer needs.
16. Build relationships with suppliers.
17. Serve as liaison among customer service, sales, design, manufacturing, shipping, and procurement teams.
18. Use market knowledge and company guidance to make informed purchasing decisions.
19. Participate in SupplyOne Procurement Council and initiatives.

Qualifications

Educational/Training Requirements/Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Critical thinking and negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of business principles is advantageous.
