Job summary

Volvo Group Purchasing in Greensboro, NC is seeking a seasoned purchasing professional to influence the North American segment business plan through strategic supplier sourcing and contract negotiations.

You will lead supplier qualification activities, manage risks across development, prototypes, and initial production orders, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure robust supplier readiness and alignment with Volvo's values.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of strategic purchasing experience including contracts, supplier negotiations, and supplier sourcing.
  • Strong project management experience, including critical path timeline creation and execution.
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering/Technology, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience

Responsibilities

  • Own the sourcing plan for the assigned segment, including leading supplier qualification activities and contract negotiations.
  • Influence the global Segment Business Plan to achieve North American targets.
  • Drive actions and challenge assumptions with suppliers to meet TSR targets.
  • Monitor, identify, and mitigate risks in the project phase with cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure supplier deliverables to support APQP activities managed by the SQE.
  • Scout for new supply partners through research and trade shows.
  • Work in accordance with Volvo processes, the Code of Conduct, and Volvo Values.

At Volvo Group Purchasing you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large. In this role, you are ultimately responsible for influencing the global Segment Business Plan to achieve North American targets, supported by your understanding of market trends for tanks, tubes and structural components. You will own the sourcing plan for the assigned segment, including leading supplier qualification activities and contract negotiations. You will drive actions and challenge assumptions, both internally and with suppliers, to meet QDCF-TSR targets for the products being developed. You will monitor, identify, and mitigate risks in the project phase in cooperation with your cross-functional project team. You will ensure supplier deliverables to support APQP activities managed by the Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE), and you will manage daily project purchasing activities connected to prototypes and initial production orders, logistics, and financial flows. You will also proactively scout for new supply partners through research and trade show attendance, while working in accordance with Volvo processes, the Code of Conduct, and the Volvo Values.

Your future team You will be based in Greensboro, NC and report to the Manager of Cab Visibility in Purchasing North America. You will work closely with colleagues across purchasing, engineering, supplier quality, logistics, and program teams to secure robust supplier readiness from early development through industrialization.

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base pay is set at $72,590.00 - $89,670.00 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
