Job summary

Volvo Group in Greensboro, NC is seeking an Associate Commodity Buyer to manage supplier QDCF across the Bearings segment and ensure supplier performance during production. You will be based at our Greensboro headquarters and report to the Head of Vendor Purchasing North America.

You will learn to negotiate strategies, drive cost improvements, and collaborate with global teams on supply chain and technology initiatives, while aligning with Volvo Group values and processes.

Qualifications

  • 1–3+ years of entry level purchasing experience or recent graduate with a relevant degree.
  • Experience from the manufacturing industry is a plus.
  • Desire to learn the strategic side of purchasing, including negotiation, sourcing and contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to develop, negotiate, and implement strategies to improve supply chain performance and value.
  • Assist in driving negotiations and executive agreements with Bearings suppliers.

What you will do

This Associate Commodity Buyer is accountable for the Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Features (QDCF) of suppliers within the Bearings segment. You will be responsible for making sure that the segment business plan is implemented through the selection of the right suppliers, and by continuously securing supplier QDCF performance by using the tools and purchasing/cross-functional network during production and after production for Revenue segments.

You will be based out of our Greensboro, NC headquarter location, and will report to the Head of Vendor Purchasing North America.

Main areas of responsibility:

  • Learn to develop, negotiate, and implement strategies resulting in improved supply chain performance, enhanced product quality, innovative technology, and maximum value
  • Assist in driving negotiations and executive agreements with suppliers within the Bearings segment .
  • Contribute to segment business plan & be an active member in the global network of Buyers
  • Collaborate with other members of the global supply chain to successfully develop and execute global supply chain and technology strategies
  • Use Volvo Production System (VPS) toolbox to drive efficiency across the supply chain
  • Assist in driving all relevant activities to deliver on Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Features targets (QDCF)
  • Monitor, identify, and mitigate risks in cooperation with the Supply Network Quality (SNQ) and Supply Network Resiliency (SNR) teams
  • Monitor and analyze supplier capacity to proactively eliminate potential plant impacts and aftermarket part shortages
  • Forecast cost evolution for scope of responsibility
  • Learn to manage and negotiate product/processes changes during production phase and after production phase for Revenue segments
  • Perform daily purchasing activities related to production orders, logistics, and financial flows to the suppliers
Who are you?

  • 1-3+ years of entry level purchasing experience, recent graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or similar, OR related internal experience referenced above
  • Experience from the manufacturing industry is an advantage
  • Desire to learn the strategic side of purchasing (i.e. supplier negotiation, sourcing, contracts, etc.)
  • Good business acumen, communication skills, agile in way of working
  • Desire to work in a collaborative team towards a common purpose

For this position, the base pay is set at $63,070.00 - $77,910.00 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
