Job summary

Capewell Aerial Systems LLC in South Windsor, CT, is seeking an experienced Buyer to source and purchase materials for manufacturing operations. You will balance quality, cost, delivery, supplier performance, and process compliance while working with cross-functional teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain and at least 4 years of manufacturing experience, with strong MRP/ERP knowledge and knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001. U.S. person eligibility is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, along with experience in a manufacturing and supply chain environment, required.
  • In lieu of a degree, at least 4 years of relevant supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of MRP and best purchasing practices required.
  • Experience with Visual ERP or similar ERP system required.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems requirements (AS9100, ISO 9001).
  • Working knowledge of EAR and ITAR.
  • Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and select suppliers; negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and service expectations; and make sourcing recommendations within delegated purchasing authority.
  • Create purchase orders, gather relevant documents, and audit details to ensure process compliance.

  • Partner with internal customers to expedite requisitions or identify solutions for supply chain disruptions.
  • Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Analyze market conditions, supplier capabilities, total cost, quality, delivery, and supply risk; make purchasing decisions.
  • Coordinate with the inventory team and stockroom as required.
  • May use the company vehicle to pickup and deliver parts.

JOB TITLE : Buyer

LOCATION: Capewell Aerial Systems - South Windsor, CT

DEPARTMENT: Supply Chain

POSITION SUMMARY: Source and purchase products and materials that support manufacturing operations while balancing quality, cost, delivery, supplier performance, and process compliance.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Research, select and purchase quality products and materials.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers; negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and service expectations; and make sourcing recommendations within delegated purchasing authority.
  • Create purchase orders, gather relevant documents, and audit details to ensure process compliance
  • Process requisitions and update management on status of orders.
  • Partner with internal customers as needed to expedite purchase requisitions or identify solutions for supply chain disruptions, to include the sourcing of alternative providers as needed.
  • Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Analyze market conditions, supplier capabilities, total cost, quality, delivery, and supply risk; exercise judgment to make purchasing decisions and recommendations that support operational requirements.
  • Resolve non-routine supplier performance, quality, delivery, and continuity issues, including determining when to qualify alternate sources, negotiate corrective actions, or elevate risks.
  • Coordinate with the inventory team, management, and the stockroom as required.
  • Assess the quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
  • Initiate problem solving initiatives and corrective actions for suppliers with process or execution deficiencies.
  • May use the company vehicle to pickup and deliver parts to suppliers.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to provide effective solutions that support Company needs.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Work cooperatively with other employees to meet department and company goals.
  • This position requires personal protective equipment on the shop floor where all require safety glasses and composite toe safety shoes.

OTHER DUTIES: Perform additional duties as directed by supervisors or management to support departmental and organizational objectives.

Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, along with experience in a manufacturing and supply chain environment, required.
  • In lieu of a degree, candidates must have at least 4 years of relevant supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of MRP and best purchasing practices required.
  • Experience with Visual ERP or similar ERP system required
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems requirements (AS9100, ISO 9001)
  • Working knowledge of EAR and ITAR.
  • Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to compile information and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to work with deadlines, sense of urgency as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking and negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Position will work primarily in an office environment with a low noise level but may occasionally have exposure to the production floor with moderate to excessive noise.
  • This is a full-time, onsite position.
  • The work schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday 7:30AM – 5:00PM and every other Friday 7:30AM – 4:00PM with a 30-minute lunch break.

COMPENSATION: The hiring range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000. This range is an estimate and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
