The Buyer I position is an entry-level individual contributor role responsible for managing and replenishing assigned purchasing categories for Synergy. The position is primarily responsible for maintaining sufficient supply of stocked items through reviewing and managing inventory and coordinating replenishment of stocks with designated vendors. The Buyer I role engages with suppliers and supports the Procurement Team in special projects and initiatives as assigned. This position is for an individual new to Procurement with relevant business or supply chain-related experience and or education. This role will be exposed to and develop the basics of Procurement including replenishment, creating purchase orders, interacting with suppliers, managing inventory levels and working with internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Purchases items in assigned categories according to established policies and procedures.
• Completes purchase order or other required paperwork and coordinates with vendors on the fulfillment and shipping of such orders to meet production demand.
• Conducts competitive bids, Request for Quotations (RFQ’s) and completes bid analysis for assigned categories.
• Follows-up with vendors in a timely manner to resolve quality or service issues.
• Works with Finance, Quality, and relevant functions in support of assigned materials
• Meets with suppliers to maintain vendor partnerships and achieve quality objectives.
• Achieves assigned goals as it relates to inventory levels.
• Maintains various files and manages documents on department team sites
• Supports functional groups in projects as assigned.
• Monitors key markets affecting categories and contributes to departmental commodity updates

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred and 0-3+ years of relevant Purchasing, Supply Chain related experience and or education.
• Attention to detail, a customer focus, organizational and communication skills.
• Computer skills with Microsoft Windows applications to include Word, Excel and Outlook, AX.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience in the food or food ingredient manufacturing industry preferred.
• Can effectively work independently and meeting deadlines. Strong drive for results.
• Builds and fosters relationships with internal stakeholder to achieve company objectives.
• Builds strong relationships with suppliers to ensure business continuity
• Professional maturity and ability to represent the department and Synergy to external parties

Salary Range: $49,151.78 - $73,727.66 USD

The actual compensation that you will be offered will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience and other relevant factors. This role will remain open until filled.
