Curtis Lumber Co, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Commodity Lumber Buyer for our Ballston Spa corporate office. You will evaluate pricing needs, research stock and sell prices, and work with senior buyers to set commodity item prices while reviewing product lines for performance.

You will analyze sales and usage data across branches, anticipate market shifts, and plan inventory actions. The role requires knowledge of product features, sales, customer service and strong administrative skills, with a

• Knowledge of products and their features.
• Experience in sales and customer service is preferred.
• Good administrative skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate need for and direct price changes including contract pricing and promotions.
• Research and establish stock and sell prices and GM % for non-commodity items.
• Work with Director of Purchasing and Senior Buyer to research and set prices for commodity items.
• Regularly review all product lines for sales and GM performance.
• Analyze sales and usage reports for sales and on hand quantities in branches and determine products and quantities to be ordered and timing for such orders.
• Watch market conditions to anticipate price changes, supply shortages, product/code/industry shifts and modify product strategy as appropriate.
• Review new product (line) with existing product mix for compatibility and select product and quantities that will be ordered, as well as the timing of such orders.
• Develop plan for existing inventory (close out or buyback).
• Select vendors after researching vendor background.
• Plan new item setup in the yards and stores.
• Communicate new items to Marketing, Sales & Operations.
• Plan new item training and education.
• Research and propose GM% and sell prices.
• Execute timely review of product success/failure.

Our Corporate office in Ballston Spa is looking for a dedicated and organized individual to join our team of Commodity Lumber Buyers.

Starting between $68,000 and $70,000 annually with annual performance based raises.

• Evaluate need for and, where appropriate, direct price changes including contract pricing, promotional, DWO
