Job summary

A growing industrial manufacturing company seeking a Buyer to support procurement of materials used in machinery production. Responsibilities include managing purchase orders, communicating with suppliers, responding to MRP requirements, and coordinating material deliveries to meet production schedules.

The ideal candidate will have buying or planning experience in manufacturing with knowledge of MRP, bills of materials, inventory management, and supplier communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain or related field plus 2+ years buying/planning experience (or 3+ years relevant experience).
• Working knowledge of MRP systems.
• Understanding of bills of materials and material management.
• Purchase-order and supplier-management experience.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Process and maintain purchase orders.
• Review POs for pricing, quantities, specs, and delivery requirements.
• Respond to MRP messages and purchasing requirements.
• Communicate with suppliers regarding availability, lead times, pricing, and delivery dates.
• Coordinate incoming materials to support production schedules.
• Monitor backorders and expedite late or critical materials.
• Negotiate supplier pricing and terms.
• Update purchase orders with supplier-confirmed information.
• Support cost-reduction, quality, and on-time delivery initiatives.
• Identify potential material shortages or production setbacks.
• Partner with internal departments to resolve supply-chain issues.
• Maintain accurate purchasing information within the ERP system.
• Assist with inventory and planning parameters, including safety stock and lead times.

Job description

The ideal candidate will have previous buying or planning experience in a manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of MRP systems, bills of material, inventory management, and supplier communication.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Tecumseh, MI.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $67000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
