Job summary

The Buyer at PROMAN Staffing USA in Shelby, NC will source, negotiate, and purchase materials, goods and services to meet operational needs. You’ll monitor delivery, resolve issues with suppliers and manage supplier relationships while collaborating with Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, and Product Management.

This is a regular, full-time, on-site position. Ideal candidates have a strong sense of urgency, excellent communication skills, and the ability to deliver measurable impact

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, engineering or related field.
• 2 years purchasing/materials control experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with ERP systems and procurement software.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of supplier performance metrics.

Job description

The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, goods, and services to meet the company's operational requirements. You will monitor delivery reports and work directly with suppliers to resolve issues. You will manage supplier relationships and ensure that suppliers are delivering on key performance indicators. In addition to external suppliers, this position interacts with internal stakeholders such as Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, and Product Management. This is a critical role that requires a strong sense of urgency, great communications skills and the desire to make a measurable and immediate impact on the business. This is a regular, full‑time, on‑site position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage procurement activities including issuing of purchase orders, expediting orders, and resolving discrepancies.
• Evaluate and analyze buy signals from MRP system, experience with JDE desirable.
• Review and update procurement policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with internal departments to understand their purchasing needs, resolve supply challenges and improve material availability.
• Analyze vendor performance based on quality, delivery, and price as well as other pertinent data to maintain a strong and sustainable supply chain. Make timely recommendations using data to support timely supply chain decisions.
• Coordinate nonconformance issues with internal teams and suppliers in a timely manner.
• Authorize payment of invoices or return of merchandise.
• Interface with vendors and build relationships to maintain a high level of support and through all aspects of the procurement process.
• Perform other duties which may be required by supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES

• Understanding of supply chain processes, including procurement, logistics, and inventory management.
• Proficiency with procurement software, working within ERP systems and tools; experience with JDE desirable.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to resolve supply chain issues and ensure timely delivery of materials.
• Ability to engage and collaborate with all levels of the organization
• Keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in orders and compliance with specifications.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience, with emphasis in business administration, economics, production, manufacturing, and/or engineering.
• Two (2) years of progressively responsible purchasing and materials control experience in a manufacturing environment.
