Job summary

New Directions Technologies Inc. seeks a Journeyman Purchasing Agent to support DoD programs in Ridgecrest, CA. The role focuses on procurement of materials and services, ensuring compliance with FAR/DFARS and internal controls.

You will manage RFQs, market research, pricing, negotiation, and vendor relations, while aligning with corporate teams to deliver audit-ready procurement files and cost-saving initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Requires a BS degree with a minimum of 3 years’ experience, or a High School/Technical Certificate with at least 8 years’ experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Experience in procurement in accordance with FAR/DFARS and ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with CPARs cost tracking and DCMA audit prep.

Responsibilities

  • Execute end-to-end DoD procurement, including RFQ analysis, market research, sourcing, pricing, negotiation, documentation, and vendor management.
  • Prepare and manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders in ERP systems.
  • Support program managers with materials planning and translate government requests into procurement strategies.

Job description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Journeyman Purchasing Agent to support, material and services procurement for Department of Defense (DoD) program located in Ridgecrest, CA.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The ideal candidate will bring experience in FAR/DFARS regulations, supply chain integrity, vendor vetting, and procurement to help drive efficient, compliant, cost-effective procurement, expediting and final delivery of items and services.
  • This role will contribute to the development and scaling of a standardized procurement function to support high-visibility, high-impact government contracts in mission-critical sustainment efforts.
  • The selected individual will work closely with the NDTI corporate team to ensure alignment on best practices, policy interpretation, and enterprise knowledge sharing across projects
  • Execute end-to-end procurement, including RFQ analysis, market research, sourcing, pricing, negotiation, documentation, and vendor management in accordance with FAR/DFARS and corporate Enterprise Business Systems.
  • Execute and manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders through company and customer’s accounting ERP platforms, ensuring compliance with internal controls and procurement timelines.
  • Support program managers in materials planning, helping translate government requests into procurement strategies that avoid rework or noncompliance.
  • Liaise with NDTI corporate contracts, finance, and purchasing teams to ensure audit-ready procurement files, including price reasonableness documentation.
  • Mentor junior procurement and logistics personnel as needed.
  • Contribute to cost-saving strategies through lean methodologies and vendor renegotiations, contributing to program profitability.
  • Act as a critical bridge between technical stakeholders, government customers, and vendors to proactively resolve procurement delays and ensure mission readiness.
  • Review Bill of Material from engineering drawings or other sources and identify appropriate source vehicles from a standard set of available contracts or new sources.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Requires a BS degree and a minimum of 3 years’ experience or a High School or Technical Certificate and a minimum of 8 years of experience. Performs all functional duties independently.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret security clearance
  • Able to work in a fast-paced Agile environment.
  • Exposure to cost tracking for CPARs, and DCMA audit prep.
  • MAY BE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN A SECURITY CLEARANCE
  • MUST BE A US CITIZEN
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience as a buyer within a DOD organization or aerospace and defense service or material supplier.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
