Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian is seeking a Buyer in the Department of Pharmacy’s Materials Management team in New York, NY. You will manage and coordinate all purchasing of goods and services, engaging with departments, suppliers, and MMIS for timely purchase orders.

You will ensure visibility of assigned commodities, support contract issues, resolve payments and delivery problems, and work with Lawson or similar ERP systems to keep inventory aligned with demand.

Qualifications

• High School Degree is required.
• 3–5 years of purchasing or equivalent experience.
• Strong working knowledge of Lawson or similar ERP procurement systems.
• Experience in healthcare procurement is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate all purchasing of goods and services via MMIS and supplier organizations.
• Be the primary contact with hospital departments regarding their orders.
• Place purchase orders in a timely manner using electronic (EDI) and manual requisitions.
• Maintain visibility for all assigned commodities to ensure supplies are available when needed.
• Assist other procurement staff with contract issues and pricing concerns.

Description

Discover Where Amazing Works. The Department of Pharmacy is an integrated department with a centralized structure that provides service to all centers of NewYork‑Presbyterian Hospital (NYP). The scope of services span numerous dimensions including clinical, policy/guideline development, distributive, quality, financial, information technology, education, and research.

Responsibilities

Buyer: Manage and coordinate all purchasing of goods and services via active engagement of purchasing transactions within the Materials Management Information System (MMIS) and with our supplier organizations. Key point of contact with the hospital departments concerning their orders. Responsible for the timely placement of purchase orders based on electronic (EDI and other) and manual (fax, paper) requisitions from end‑user departments, capital improvement groups, PAR and general stores locations. Maintains visibility for all assigned commodities to ensure that supplies are available when needed. Assist as needed other strategic sourcing staff in contract related issues and pricing concerns. Resolves issues around payments, non‑receipts, damages/returns and priority orders, as required.

Preferred Criteria

• CPM and/or APEX credentialing
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
• Good knowledge of MS Office Suite, especially Excel, to pull and arrange data and other information needed for analysis
