Job summary

R-V Industries, Inc. is seeking a Buyer to procure raw materials and services to support production schedules. You will create POs, coordinate with multiple departments, and negotiate with suppliers to optimize cost and delivery.

Qualifications include a manufacturing background, proficiency with MRP software, and at least 5 years in steel/fabrication purchasing. Bachelor’s degree required; safety-sensitive role.

Responsibilities

  • Create purchase orders, for products and services, based on the production required dates.
  • Work with multiple departments to supply component parts by delivery schedule requirements
  • Participate in negotiating formal agreements with suppliers as necessary
  • Collaborate with accounting to resolve invoices, errors, and purchasing orders
  • Advise operations management on logistical considerations as they influence cycle time, transportation, and product costs
  • Satisfy production requirements for materials based on the needs purchased report
  • Replenish max/min items as assigned by the purchasing manager
  • Maintain and control min/max quantity level for applicable items
  • Expedite purchase orders
  • Negotiate competitive prices
  • Communicate with applicable suppliers and develop/maintain strong vendor relationships
  • Confirm the validity of open purchase orders
  • Coordinate product returns to vendors as required

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Buyer position exists to procure raw material or commodity items, and services. This individual is responsible for determining what to procure based on a work order bill of material (BOM). They must understand all nuances associated with each specific BOM in order to communicate intelligently to our suppliers.
