Job summary

HS Inc. Automation in Grand Rapids, Michigan is seeking a procurement professional to manage purchasing activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will source materials, negotiate terms, and ensure delivery performance while maintaining accurate ERP records. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, monitor inventory levels, identify cost-saving opportunities, and drive improvements in supplier relations and process efficiency.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of purchasing, buying, procurement, or related experience preferred.
  • Experience purchasing raw materials, industrial components, or manufacturing supplies preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with sourcing, purchasing, inventory management, and vendor relationships.
  • Experience with ERP systems preferred.
  • Ability to negotiate pricing, delivery, and other purchasing terms as needed.

  • Demonstrate initiative in identifying problems and developing effective solutions.
  • Order industrial components, materials, supplies, and other products as needed.
  • Generate, process, and track purchase orders and verify order accuracy and delivery.
  • Monitor inventory levels and work with purchasing and shop personnel to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Assist with maintaining and improving purchasing and inventory processes and systems.
  • Research and source products across all departments, including maintenance, machining, mold making, safety, and operations.
  • Input and maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and vendor information within the ERP system.
  • Monitor supplier performance, lead times, pricing, and product availability.
  • Assist with identifying cost-saving opportunities and alternative products or suppliers.
  • Research and establish relationships with new suppliers as needed.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with existing vendors and suppliers.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding order discrepancies, shortages, quality concerns, pricing, and delivery issues.
  • Follow up on open purchase orders and communicate changes or delays to the appropriate team members.
  • Assist with gathering purchasing and inventory information and generating reports as requested.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to purchasing, inventory, and supply chain processes.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001.
  • May perform other duties as assigned or required.

Physical Requirements
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The position requires frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of objects that are 25 lbs. or heavier.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing/shop environment and safely handle materials and products as required.
