Job summary

TGG Accounting in Harrison, MI is seeking a Senior Buyer to own the purchasing process from supplier selection through delivery, partnering with engineering and operations to keep production moving. This hands-on role focuses on sourcing materials, negotiating with vendors, and ensuring on-time, within-budget delivery of materials for highly engineered products.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or buying experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience purchasing manufactured components, machined parts, raw materials, castings, fabrication, MRO, or similar industrial products.
• Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of reducing costs and improving supplier performance.
• Experience working within ERP/MRP systems (Epicor, SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, JobBoss, etc.).
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Excellent communication, organization, and follow-up skills.
• Associate's degree or equivalent industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage the procurement of raw materials, components, fabricated parts, and production supplies.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with domestic suppliers while identifying new sourcing opportunities.
• Prepare RFQs, evaluate supplier proposals, and negotiate pricing, lead times, freight terms, and contracts.
• Issue and manage purchase orders while ensuring pricing accuracy, quantities, and delivery schedules.
• Partner with Engineering, Production, Shipping, and Quality to support manufacturing schedules.
• Resolve supplier shortages, expedite critical materials, and address supply chain disruptions.
• Analyze purchasing data and supplier performance to identify costs savings and process improvements.
• Monitor inventory levels and purchasing trends to support operational efficiency.
• Support ERP-driven purchasing processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Serve as a key contributor in driving supplier accountability, quality, and long-term partnerships.
