Job summary

Loft Orbital Solutions in Golden, CO is seeking an experienced Buyer focused on procurement, contract management, and supplier relationships to support engineering teams and meet production and launch deadlines. This role will be a critical contributor to Loft’s supply chain and product delivery goals.

You will source materials, lead subcontracting efforts, negotiate favorable terms, manage purchase orders, and optimize procurement processes while ensuring compliance with quality standards.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of procurement experience in a hardware-focused, high-tech environment.
  • Strong understanding of procurement and sourcing principles.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and ability to manage supplier relationships.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems and procurement software.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. supply chain management).

Responsibilities

  • Source and procure materials, hardware, and services to support engineering and production timelines.
  • Lead subcontracting efforts, including PO preparation, negotiation, and contracts management.
  • Negotiate with suppliers for favorable pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Oversee inventory and coordinate procurement strategies with internal teams.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and quality standards; drive process improvements.
  • Prepare and manage purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements; resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and logistics to align procurement with schedules.
  • Track spending, provide procurement insights to leadership, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Coordinate logistics for deliveries and leverage multiple contract types to optimize the supply chain.

Satellite & flight hardware production at Loft Orbital is scaling rapidly, and we are seeking an experienced Buyer with a strong focus on procurement, contract management, and supplier relationship management. This critical role will support Loft’s engineering teams by sourcing and procuring materials, equipment, and services, ensuring that we meet production and launch deadlines. As a key player in our supply chain, your expertise will directly impact our success in delivering high-quality products.

Loft is in a period of dynamic growth & this person will initially be a swiss-army-knife, filling some operational gaps that we will eventually hire people for in the future.

About this Role:
  • Source and procure materials, hardware, and services, ensuring timely delivery to meet engineering and production requirements.
  • Lead subcontracting efforts, including the preparation, negotiation, and management of purchase orders, contracts, and subcontracts.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure optimal pricing, terms, and delivery schedules, while ensuring long-term, sustainable supplier relationships.
  • Oversee inventory levels, ensuring materials are available when needed and work with internal teams to develop and implement procurement strategies that align with company goals.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards. Continuously improve and streamline procurement and subcontracting processes.
  • Prepare, analyze, and manage purchase orders, contracts, and agreements. Proactively resolve conflicts or issues with suppliers, addressing any contractual disputes or delivery concerns.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and logistics teams to understand material and service needs, aligning procurement activities with production schedules.
  • Track purchasing activity, report on spending, and provide insights to leadership regarding procurement performance, trends, and opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Coordinate logistics for deliveries, ensuring timely and cost-effective transportation solutions.
  • Leverage different contractual agreements with vendors (e.g., bulk pricing agreements, not to exceed purchase orders, stocking agreements, and vendor-managed inventory agreements) to optimize the supply chain.
Must Haves:
  • 5-10 years of experience in procurement in a high tech, hardware focused industry
  • Strong understanding of procurement and sourcing principles

  • Professional certification in procurement (e.g., CPSM, CPSP).

$80,000 - $110,000 a year

State law requires us to tell you the base compensation range for this role, which is $80,000- $110,000 per year which is determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The salary range for this role is intentionally wide as we evaluate individuals based on their unique experience and abilities to fit our needs.
