Job summary

LAB Medical, a ISO 13485 registered manufacturer, is seeking a Buyer/Senior Buyer in Massachusetts to lead raw material procurement and planning. You will manage master schedules, issue POs, and drive cost-effective purchasing to support production and quality goals.

You will collaborate cross-functionally, ensure ISO compliance, and oversee annual inventory counts while optimizing materials flow and supplier performance.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in purchasing and planning.
• Experience with computerized MRP/ERP systems.
• Exposure to ISO 13485 quality management standards.
• BS or BA in Business, Technical, or Materials Management preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identifies raw material requirements for production from engineering, planning, and production specifications and schedules.
• Prepares and places all purchase orders for materials and components based on a master production schedule and inventory requirements.
• Analyzes inventory usage and scrap and coordinates corrective actions.
• Schedules all required services as per engineering and quality department specifications.
• Assists management in resolving problems concerning over-shipments, shortages, engineering changes, and order cancellations.
• Advises management of issues with material availability and potential production problems, coordinating appropriate corrective actions when necessary.
• Ensures ISO compliance for all processes related to buying and planning.
• Participates in long-term process and system changes to improve the planning and execution of orders while minimizing plant inventory.
• Leads the facility in the annual physical inventory.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent computer and project management skills.
• BS or BA in Business, Technical, or Materials Management preferred.
• 5–10 years of experience providing thorough knowledge of purchasing and planning activities and the use of computerized MRP systems.
• Exposure to ISO 13485 quality management standards.
• Good understanding of the connections between inventory control, planning, and procurement relative to material requirements and planning.

Role Objective

Leads the raw material and procurement functions in the organization. Plans, prepares, issues, and controls materials requirements and purchases to support the continuous flow and delivery of products to the customer at the highest quality and lowest cost. In addition, participates in continuous improvement activities including, but not limited to, forecasting, materials planning, control, and inventory management.
