Job summary

TEAM Industries is seeking a Buyer to direct the purchasing of assigned products to ensure uninterrupted supply at optimum cost and quality. You will maintain a balance between supplier quality, delivery expectations, and cost reduction metrics.

Responsibilities include procurement, scheduling to maintain inventory levels, and oversight of invoices and freight for cost control. A 4-year degree and five years of supply chain experience are preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:None

Purpose: This position directs the purchasing of assigned products to ensure uninterrupted supply at optimum cost and quality. Maintains an essential balance between supplier quality, delivery expectations, and cost reduction metrics.

  • Ensure a safe work environment for self and others. Follows all safety rules and regulations. Demonstrate commitment to safety program.
  • Responsible for procurement of material and sub-contract services necessary to support facilities operations
  • Responsible with the scheduling function to keep inventory at company specified levels to improve shop efficiency and inventory turns
  • Oversees verification of invoices and freight bills as required for accounting
  • Manages the transportation and logistics of purchased product to achieve cost control and timely delivery of all incoming product
  • Works with TEAM Corporate Supplier Management to support Corporate contracts/strategies, and achieve cost, quality and delivery goals and objectives
  • Applies knowledge of total management of material and service purchases, including the vendor selection process to source specific commodities and metrics to base supplier performance criteria for developing future buy decisions; and applies knowledge in the development of commodities strategies
  • Clearly communicates and presents ideas, concepts, and processes to Supply Chain personnel and groups
  • Facilitates cross-functional collaboration with others to achieve the greatest outcomes in support of SCM strategic goals and initiatives
  • Demonstrate commitment to the TEAM Industries Quality Management system and Objectives.
  • Promote a positive atmosphere. Actively support activities that promote the welfare and morale of TEAM employees.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • CPM or APICS Certification preferred
  • Five years of supply chain experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills necessary to converse with a diverse group of stakeholders including senior management, operations, and Supply Chain Management personnel
  • Commodity Management: understands total commodity management processes, including vendor selection, material purchase, performance metrics, and continuous process improvement
  • Global Market Sourcing: possesses sound knowledge of commercial purchasing practices including foreign currency fluctuations, duties and tariffs, quality standards, and legal and regulatory environment and cultural differences that affect the commodity purchase transaction
  • Materials Planning & Management: understands forecasting, demand planning, scheduling and inventory management tools and concepts necessary to analyze optimal placement and velocity of materials required in the manufacturing and distribution process
  • Negotiation: understands the process necessary to skillfully negotiate in difficult situations with both internal customers and external suppliers and settle differences in a forceful yet diplomatic fashion in order to reach an agreement upon the terms and conditions surrounding a commodity purchase transaction
  • Supplier Selection & Collaboration: understands effective sourcing practices and supply chain collaboration and knowledge of supplier products and processes respective to the product/process being sourced
  • Transportation Management: possesses sound knowledge of the flow of goods and creates timely and cost efficient modes of transportation for all incoming and outgoing shipments and storage of goods
  • Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
